Architect and pedagogue, Zdeněk Fránek, was born in Boskovice. After his studies at the Faculty of Architecture VUT in Brno he worked at the Chief Architect Institute in Blansko, establishing his practice Fránek Architects in 1989. He is currently involved in architectural design, publishing and educational activities at home as well as abroad.
He has lectured at FA VUT Brno, VŠB Ostrava, ARCHIP Prague, and TU Liberec. He habilitated in 2008 at AVU Prague, completed professorship at VŠUP Prague in 2011 and was dean from 2012 to 2018 at the Faculty of Art and Architecture at the Technical University of Liberec. Abroad he has lectured at universities in Gent, Utrecht, Hildesheim, New Delhi, Peking and Santiago de Chile among others.
During his career he has exhibited his work at numerous exhibitions, including Perspectives at Jaroslav Frágner Gallery in 2007, Insides of Architecture at Brno House of Arts in 2011-2012, exhibition at the CCC Gallery in Peking in 2012 and many solo exhibitions, for example in Litomyšl, Boskovice, Blansko, Zlín, Pelhřimov, Gent, Utrecht, Hildesheim and Vienna.
